Our Vision

Our vision is to foster in each individual student a curiosity of learning, discover their interests, and grow them in their love of learning. We also desire to have strong partnerships with our stakeholders as we embrace our families within our learning community and the community at large. We aim to offer a safe, caring, and collaborative learning environment where every student is known and valued as we meet the differing needs of every student. Growing the whole child - fostering each child’s intellectual, social, physical, and moral development in an academic-rich environment. We strive to prepare all our students to become lifelong learners and responsible, well-rounded citizens of society.  In partnership with families and the community, our goal is to create relevant and extensive learning opportunities for students — both inside and outside the classroom that help our students develop the knowledge, critical thinking skills, and character necessary to succeed in today's rapidly advancing world. We aim at nurturing our children academically, socially, emotionally as we inculcate good character and values and grow the whole child.  Embracing students in Project-Based Learning (PBL), engaging them in inquiry process, higher-order thinking skills, collaboration, problem-solving strategies, guiding them in making real-world connections as we promote the interdisciplinary approach.

Our Mission

Our mission is to foster each child’s intellectual, social, emotional, physical, and moral development in an academic-rich environment where we work together to build a safe, respectful, and nurturing experience focused on maximizing each child’s sense of wellbeing and acquisition of skills for life and learning. As we collaborate to lead and support the learning community in building a solid foundation for children K- 5. We aim to feature a quality student-centered program that fosters hands-on learning to all K-5 students in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math). We are aiming to empower our children, our future leaders of tomorrow through inquiry-based, hands-on student-centered teaching and learning with an emphasis on the 21st-century skills as we incorporate technology and project-based learning (PBL) as young as kindergarten all the way through 5th grade. Character education is a shared responsibility, and through character education courses, ION Public Schools aims to promote strong character and citizenship among our youth as we raise well rounded, principled young learners who grow to become morally responsible individuals and an asset to the community.

Philosophy

Our prime directive is to bring a positive charge to education.  As the world transitions from the Information Age to what some futurists now call the Experience Age, Ion is ready to transition education models to meet the new challenge.

Yes, we are somewhat handicapped by the same regulations as other public schools, but our learning innovations are made easier using charters authorized by ISDs and state education agencies.

So, although our students have state-mandated testing just like traditional schools, better outcomes will result from individualizing education rather than the mass production method. Your student is an individual, with unique needs and learning styles, so believe in aligning our education model to each student.

In The Classroom

ION Public Schools will provide a challenging learning environment in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math to all students along with the instructional building blocks to develop lifelong learners. Students will become critical thinkers and problem solvers who work collaboratively to innovate and improvise as they tread into the 21st century. An engaging learning environment will promote student leaders who are capable of making evidence-based decisions and develop multiple solutions for complex real-world situations.
